About Me
My name is Dr. Jonathan Mullis, and I am running for Manatee County School Board, District 5. I earned my undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons University, both in Boston. I am currently the Owner and CEO of Physical Therapy Doctors of Florida in Bradenton. Before moving to Manatee County, I founded and operated Mullis and Associates Physical Therapy in Boston and Braintree, MA. Altogether, I have been a small business owner for more than 16 years.
I recently celebrated my 20th wedding anniversary, and my wife and I are proud parents of two daughters currently attending Manatee County schools. Since relocating to Lakewood Ranch in 2017, I have been deeply involved in our local community.
I am a 2018–2019 graduate of Leadership Manatee and have served on both the Leadership Manatee Board of Governors and the Junior Leadership Manatee Board of Directors, where I am also a Past President. Currently, I serve as President of the Bradenton Kiwanis Club and sit on the Board of Directors for the Manatee Tiger Bay Club.
I am also an active member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, serving on both its Healthcare and Legislative Committees for several years, and I am a proud member of the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance (LWRBA). In addition, I have volunteered with numerous education initiatives, including Project TEACH at Gullett Elementary School, Big Bank Theory at Lakewood Ranch High School, and various Bradenton Kiwanis education projects throughout Manatee County.

My mission is to ensure every child in our community receives a high-quality education built on strong academics and respect for parents’ roles in their children’s learning. I’m committed to promoting transparency, supporting great teachers, and expanding educational choices — including STEM, Arts and vocational programs — so families can find the best path for their students. Together, we can keep politics out of the classroom and put students, parents, and teachers back at the center of education.
